Della H. Corn. Dining Room. February 03rd , 2017.
Redoing the dining room is one of the things that a lot of people would like to do. As the place where you and your family meet you may also wish to create a place of comfort and style. One of the first things you need to consider is your budget. This will let you know how far you can take your project. It also helps to decide where you can pinch pennies and what you have to do.
One of the best ways to encourage lingering after a meal is to provide comfortable furniture. Hard wooden chairs with no padding don't encourage people to sit for long periods of time, and you may find your family and friends eager to jump up from the table after a meal. If you choose soft furnishings or padding for wooden chairs, guests can sit back and relax without feeling uncomfortable. The table should be a comfortable height, with the edge not too low where it hits people's knees. Any larger pieces of furniture should match your colour scheme and feel warm and inviting and not too formal.
A good place to begin is with paint color. You may want to use a monochromatic paint color. So if you are using, for instance, the color tan, you would have two or three shades of tan that would go together and look very nice. If you want a little more color, you can combine different colors, but just make sure they are the same intensity.
For even more color, use blues and greens of equal intensity. They have a soothing effect, and you can get away with using a little more color by using blues and greens even in a small room. If you want a very soothing color in a small dining room, use pale blue. This is a color that you can live with for a long time, and I really don't think you will get tired of it.
